Dr. Michele Fortanasce - School Psychologist

Some of you know me as Michele Read Feryo, but since getting married on November 10th, I am Michele Fortanasce.  I have lived on Long Island all of my life. I earned my A.A. in liberal arts at SUNY Farmingdale then went on to earn my B.A. in psychology at C. W. Post. After earning my undergraduate degrees, I attended Hofstra University, where I earned my M.A. in clinical and school psychology (2002) and my Ph.D. in clinical and school psychology in 2008. I currently have my school psychologist certification as well as my New York State licence in psychology.

I have been working as the school psychologist in West Babylon Junior High School since September 2008.  As a school psychologist, my door is always open to students, parents, and staff. I provide counseling to students, I evaluate students who are struggling academically to determine their need for additional services, and I provide recommendations and referrals to parents and staff when needed. I am a member of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and the chairperson of the Child Study Team (CST).  In addition, I have been actively involved in many committees both on the building level and district level, including the Strategic Plan Task Force, SQRC, Character Education/SEAL Committee at the building and district level, and the JHS Antibullying Committee.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child please feel free to contact me at 376-7200, ext. 7230 or at mfortanasce@wbschools.org
