Mrs. Jaime Buchwald, Orchestra Director



Jaime Buchwald has been teaching in the West Babylon School District since 1997. She started out teaching orchestra in all five elementary schools, as well as the high school.  In 2003, Mrs. Buchwald became the high school orchestra director full time. Currently, Mrs. Buchwald is teaching at the West Babylon JHS, directing the 6th grade orchestra and the 7th and 8th grade orchestra.

Mrs. Buchwald starting playing violin at the age of 8. Mrs. Buchwald studied violin with Elaine Blumenkranz, Gino Sambuco, Cecele Miller, and Mildred Perlow. 
Mrs. Buchwald is  graduate of Hofstra University, with a B.S in Music Education and a M. S. in Special Education.  She also has training in teaching the Suzuki Method for violin. Outside of school, Mrs. Buchwald currently performs with a small chamber group at weddings around Long Island.  She has performed with the Massapequa Philharmonic.  Mrs. Buchwald also is a singer and choir conductor, having performed in local choirs and the Long Island Choral Festival.
